We are Going to Need a Bigger Boat!

Carolina Coast Boating

Boating is one of the best activities available on the Carolina Coast. Boating provides unlimited adventure and access only dreamed about by most people. You can get access to uninhabited islands, sand bars for hanging out, and any type of fishing you can imagine. The question is what does boating access look like for Hampstead, Surf City, and Topsail Island?

Private Personal Dock

One way to access the water is to have a house with a private dock. Numerous areas along the ICWW have houses with private docks. A private dock allows you direct access to the water.

Private Community Docks

There are also a few communities that have their own dock system. They provided either deeded slips or a marina that allows you to purchase a slip.

These are a few of the communities that have deeded slips or a marina that allows private ownership:

  • Salters Haven

  • Sloop Point Plantation

  • Diamond Point

  • Pelican Sound

  • Washington Acres

Dry Stack or Wet Slip Marinas

Imagine you are sitting at your house and you pull up your phone, open an app, and magically your boat is waiting for you. Dry stack storage can be a great way to access boating on the Carolina Coast. There are rental and purchasing options for dry stack storage or wet slips.

Here are the three main dry-stack marinas in the area:

Marsh Creek at Scotts Hill Marina - Slips available for lease

Sloop Point Marina - Slips available for lease and purchase

Topsail Island Marina - Slips available for purchase

Wet slip marinas:

Harbor Villiage Marina - Slips available for purchase

Bush Marina - Slips available for lease

Communities with Private Boat Ramps

How does this sound? Launching your boat without waiting in line or dealing with 200 of your closest “friends” who are trying to launch their boats at the same time. A handful of communities have a private ramp for their residents.

Here are a few communities that have a private ramp:

Pecan Grove Plantation

Olde Point

Middle Sound

Public Boat Ramps

These ramps are free to use for the general public:

Lewis Road State Ramp - Hampstead

Surf City Ramp - Sound Side Park

West Onslow Ramp - North Topsail

Turkey Creek - Sneads Ferry

Private Boat Ramps

Hampstead Marina - A membership-based boat ramp.

We would love to help you find the perfect home if boating is a priority for you!
