Topsail Island moves at beach-town pace. Visit the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center to meet turtles being nursed back to health, walk the quieter southern end near Topsail Beach for prime shelling, and look for the concrete WWII-era "Assembly Building" towers, remnants of the island's history as a top-secret missile testing site. Fish off any of the island's piers, or just watch the sunset from the sound side.
